ESB SIGNS STRATEGIC ALLIANCE WITH HSA

The alliance builds on the already strong mutually beneficial relationship and sets out to align a shared vision of both organisations in relation to safety and health. The senior HSA delegation, including CEO Martin O’Halloran and Assistant Chief Executive Brian Higgisson, were welcomed to ESB by Chief Executive, Pat O’ Doherty; Deputy Chief Executive, Jerry O’Sullivan and Head of Group Safety, Health and Wellbeing, Fergal Keogh.

ESB Networks was also represented at the meeting by Managing Director, Marguerite Sayers; Safety & Organisational Transformation Manger, Gerry Mooney and Safety, Health, Environment, Quality and Sustainability Manager, Mark Madigan.

Key Objectives of Alliance:

  • Engagement to ensure a greater understanding of the hazards and risks associated with the electricity infrastructure, with particular emphasis on public safety and also on the construction and agriculture sectors.
  • Providing positive leadership with the ultimate aim of eliminating injury and fatalities arising from contact or near contact with the electricity infrastructure.
  • Supporting compliance through the review and development of regulations and codes of practice.
  • Ensuring competence through the open sharing of knowledge and information by engaging in joint working groups and forums.

The alliance will be implemented through the establishment of a high level forum where common safety and health issues and concerns can be identified and actioned to a satisfactory outcome.
